The Circle Way

Learn how to facilitate safe and held circles and create a space for the healed sisterhood.

Girls receive mixed messages about what it is to be a woman in this culture. Through the BAW workshop, girls are educated about their bodies, inspired by their connection with the earth and her cycles, empowered through story and shared wisdoms and deeply supported by the women within the circle. In these simple and profound ways they come to know themselves as powerful and important. They develop respect for their bodies and their intuition and they open an ongoing conversation with their own mothers which will support them throughout their lives.

At menarche we welcome our daughters to womanhood, celebrating and honouring them ready, willing and able to be the support they need as they transition into womanhood. We teach them what we have learned and we guide our daughters with women's wisdom.

Menstrual shame leads to body shame, body shame leads to low self-esteem, low self-esteem leads to all manner of wounded behaviours including self harm, eating disorders and risky and dangerous sexual decision-making. Menstrual shame is known as one of the main organizing principles of the patriarchy that maintains the oppression of women. Menstrual shame, a worldwide, cross-cultural phenomenon causes all that, and is preventable. We must banish menstrual shame.

Muriel

The main thing that I really got out of this course is that it's not just another course or workshop, it's more a duty of care to share this information.

Leah

The BWFT empowered me to weave the significance of the blood mysteries into my world, my conversations and my being. It reinforced my deep reverence and appreciation for my womanhood and encouraged me to continue the dialogue about the importance of this very significant right of passage.

Hope

The tools and instruction I have been given have prepared me well to teach this work in my community. The inspiration, support and belief I have been shown have given me the courage I was lacking.
